Create

I think I might have spring fever? I haven't started cleaning everything, just way too many crafty ideas. I lost my voice for two days. The boys thought it funny and necessary to whisper when they spoke with me. It did help quiet down 4 teenagers though. Small blessings, right?!

I had this idea this morning to do more with a canvas than just paint on it. I wanted it to pop out! So without any real detail to the background I poured the paint straight onto the canvas and took a 4in brush to it, just smearing streaks of white and two shades of blue, added a few brown lines to it. I probably drank way too much coffee while I waited for it all to dry. Snagged a few little orange flowers from an arrangement in the house, stuck those to the canvas. Put different beads in the middle of all the flowers and grabbed some wire for spirals, putting beads on them. Chose the word Create for the middle. Added butterflies made from feathers that were hanging on the curtains in my craft room and Voila! My spring fever is cured for a day!

Crocodile Slippers

Yep, still tinkering with yarn! We're still having our last few (fingers crossed) cold days here and something about yarn is comforting & warm. I came across this pattern on craftsy.com & couldn't resist. I see many Crocodile Slippers being made in the near future!

Baby Drawstring Bags

A weekend filled with relaxing at the spa with my husband and a whole day creating in the craft room, if only I could do that every weekend! My day of creating must have been inspired by babies, or maybe because I finally got to talk to my amazing friend, Kat who's expecting in the next few weeks. I would like to thank her almost 2yr old son for "accidentally" calling me, conversations with toddlers are the best! Whatever the reason, these turned out great and I have fabric cut and ready to make a few more!

new...

I realized today that I've been carrying around the same bag for over a year now and it was time for a new one! I even reused the strap from the old one.

I hope what I do has an art to it, and as an artist you have to try new things and keep yourself entertained. ~Craig Ferguson

Flannel Projects

All this endless snow makes me just want to stay inside. Besides going to run errands and physical therapy twice a week that's just what I've done. I'm so ready for spring and gardening to start!

I am thrilled that my pinterest inspired craft table is now done! We learned a few things and put some work into making a taller table to ease my back pain from so much crafting. Korbin learned about sanding wood and how to put bookshelves together the right way. I learned the next time I use counter top paint to wear gloves, since it doesn't wash off so easily. So far the paint is holding up to my frequent use of the iron and no signs of bubbling yet!
Sunday's project:
Little Blue Knitted Zebra Pillow.
The zebra side is flannel fabric.

 Wednesdays Project:

Happy Valentine's Day

I made another sun catcher, just in time for Valentine's Day. My kitchen window is only half full of these but I enjoy the sparkle and all the mini rainbows on sunny days like today.
I woke to find 12 beautiful pink roses with a card and a date set to enjoy the spa together. What a guy! So many things to be thankful for!
Happy Valentine's Day to you too!

book covers, hand warmers & baskets

When it comes to fabric, there's always something fun to make. I still can't seem to follow someone else's directions on how to make things. So I draw my own pattern, or just go without. I've made a few of these book covers with book marks and handles. They're great for all the times you want to take your book with you and you just can't find room in your bag.

My yarn adventures continue. I'm learning new techniques, and how to read the patterns. I'm like my aunt, I can never have enough yarn to play with and there are so many different things to make! I've made a few hand warmers, in a few different sizes and styles.
My boys have even requested some!
He finds the oddest ways to get comfy while drawing!
I even found something to make with yarn scraps! Super cute little baskets of yarn with knitting needles for my crafty friends!
