Earth Day 2013

We celebrated a day early with a trip to the Scovill Zoo and received a free lunch, four blue spruce trees, Earth Day t-shirts and souvenirs from the gift shop all from Advanced Disposal. So until the danger of frost is past they are currently living in my craft room soaking up the sun, along with all the other plants to go outside.

My Earth Day themed craft will be another pinwheel pillow!

Thank You!

What to do on another rainy day?

 Have I mentioned
how much I LOVE having a whole wall of chalkboard in the kitchen to create on?

Just want to say Thank You!

Another beautiful rainy day

The pitter patter of a rainy day,
the dog snoring,
the dryer running
and
the two visitors in the yard.

April showers bring...

Rain, rain, go away so I can plant more flowers! I did enjoy the rain this morning while I was out walking with my umbrella to get some sprite for a sick kiddo. I'm hoping his fever breaks soon so he can feel better. He laid in front of the heater in the craft room while I worked today and had to cover Hobbes up with a blanket too, so they could both be comfy while I worked.

With flowers as the theme, these are the newest bags.

Crafts before snack time!

We're coming up on the end of our spring break. We did manage to get a lot of yard work done and flower beds ready for planting more flowers. Some days are hard to get through without hearing "I'm so bored." They sure don't get that from me! I have a whole room full of things to cure boredom, but they always resort to the t.v. until it gets turned off and they have to suffer through their boredom and go play outside!

Today I decided to just let them be, so I could do my thing. I wandered out to my craft room and came out with two pretty wreaths. The yellow one looks great on the front door and I love the tear drop glass beads in the center.  I'm very pleased with the red one. I'm thinking it's more of a christmas wreath though or maybe for July if I can find a blue star to hang in the middle of it.

We had an adventure with a coconut today. I guess it's been too long since I've bought a whole one. I was starting to wonder if the hammer was actually going to work! It was worth all that work!

Easter Eggs

The fun of coloring eggs the night before. We chose marbleizing them with liquid dye. I think next year we'll go back to our tradition of coloring with white crayons and dipping them in colors. Funny how I prefer the mess to the easy way!

I haven't been to my grandparents house on Easter since I was a kid. I remember when the whole family got together for a big meal and their yard was full of kids hunting for eggs, and everyone went home with a bag full of goodies and smiles! Lots of good memories. My niece was the only little one hunting this year, but she came in with plenty of eggs! I surprised her with some crocodile boots too!
